The School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) at Quaid-i-Azam University is Pakistan's leading higher learning institution which offers internationally accredited graduate and post-graduate programs to a diversified number of students from all of the federating units of Pakistan and abroad. Established as the ‘Department of International Relations’ in 1973, it was raised as one of the pioneer institutions in Pakistan enlightening the students regarding the contours of international politics, equipping them with the art of statecraft, and imparting specialised training in the discipline. Building upon the experiences and successes of the department, it was up-graded to the School in Spring 2011.
Benefitting from the expertise of an internationally acclaimed faculty, the institution offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of International Relations and Political Science. The significantly multidisciplinary nature of the disciplines makes the discourses cosmopolitan and equally challenging. Our curricula include a wide spectra of courses covering the theoretical foundations of the disciplines and applied courses such as Theories of International Relations, Western and Islamic Political Thought, Research Methodology, Security and Strategic Studies, Foreign Policy Analysis, Diplomacy, International Organizations, International Law, Conflict and Conflict Resolution, Comparative Politics, Politics and Foreign Policy of Pakistan & India, and Politics of International Economic Relations.
