The School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) hosted Mr. Talha Tufail Bhatti, an environmentalist heading ‘Strengthening Regional Climate Resilience’ program at Institute of Regional Studies. Mr. Talha engaged with the students, educating them towards a more nuanced understanding of climate change.

He stated that the earth has never had this much CO2 in its atmosphere. He projected that even under optimal circumstances, a recovery from the current situation would take a century, and a full restoration can take anywhere from 1,200 to 1,500 years.

In addition to threat from climate change, he spoke of the International agreements, the potential they had, their impacts and the way forward for us. The session, moderated by Dr. Summar Iqbal Babar, concluded with an engaging discussion, showcasing the students’ enthusiasm and commitment to addressing climate challenges.
